JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the management and supervision of the day-to-day activities performed by the payroll processing team, including process client payrolls, data entry and other client requests and department administration function. Responsible for maintaining productivity, troubleshooting problems and ensuring exceptional customer service for all payroll customers.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day-to-day payroll processing activities and is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of all payrolls.
  • Manage the day-to-day customer service needs of clients including payroll related questions, and troubleshooting various client needs.
  • Responsible for understanding the payroll software including the functionality and capability of all screens and options.
  • Manage the training of clients to successfully use the online payroll platform.
  • Provide expertise and advice to staff as necessary in the completion of the daily requirements of the payroll processing functions.
  • Manage, hire, develop, and retain staff to effectively perform their assigned responsibilities by required deadlines with quality work results.
  • Responsible for maintaining department processes and procedures and seeking efficiency through process improvement.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the administration team including new hire reporting, mail room functions, and other support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a procedure manual for payroll processing.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Understand clergy payroll and the unique taxation and payment topics, demonstrating the ability to educate and effectively communicate these specific topics and subject matter.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be an expert in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have strong communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Must be accurate with details.
  • Must maintain absolute confidentiality of payroll information and records.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with and manage people.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Must work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.
  • EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, human resources or related field.
  • Must have at two years of payroll, finance, human resources or business related experience.
  • Prior payroll experience is desired.
  • FPC and / or CPP designation desired
  • Previous supervisory experience is desired.
