Job Title : Nursing Home Staffer / Scheduler
Position Summary :
The Nursing Home Staffer / Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing nursing schedules to ensure the facility is appropriately staffed in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines. This individual coordinates coverage for call-offs, maintains compliance with staffing ratios, and collaborates with nursing leadership to support high-quality resident care.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop, maintain, and adjust nursing staff schedules (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) to meet facility and regulatory requirements.
Monitor daily staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Respond to last-minute call-offs and find coverage to prevent gaps in care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in scheduling software (e.g., Kronos, Smartlinx, OnShift, etc.).
Communicate schedule changes to staff and management in a timely and professional manner.
Coordinate with HR and nursing leadership to onboard new hires into scheduling rotation.
Ensure compliance with union contracts (if applicable), labor laws, and internal policies.
Prepare staffing reports and audits as required by facility leadership or regulatory bodies.
Participate in daily staffing meetings and collaborate with department heads.
Provide support and conflict resolution related to scheduling concerns.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience in healthcare scheduling, preferably in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
Knowledge of state staffing regulations and CNA / RN / LPN licensing requirements is a plus.
Experience preferred in a long-term care setting.
Working Conditions :
Office environment within a nursing home or healthcare facility.
May require availability outside of normal working hours to address urgent scheduling issues.
Occasional weekend or holiday shifts may be required.
