Position Description - Environmental Compliance Coordinator - En Tech

Purpose of the Position

The Environmental Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the Construction Contractor's conformance to environmental goals and regulatory requirements for the project. This role will implement and monitor environmental protection procedures, provide training, and maintain documentation in accordance with project-specific management plans and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Environmental Manager for the Construction Contractor, ensuring compliance with all environmental goals and requirements.
  • Oversee and implement the Waste Management Plan (WMP), Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Management Plan, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including maintaining required documentation.
  • Present overviews of environmental issues and site-specific procedures at Preconstruction conferences.
  • Provide and document environmental training for all project personnel, including overviews of industry and project-specific environmental issues, management plans, and pollution prevention practices.
  • Monitor, document, and report on the implementation of environmental procedures and management plans.
  • Perform project quality control in accordance with requirements for quality, regulatory compliance, IAQ management, noise and acoustics management, storm water pollution prevention, and construction waste management.
  • Submit evidence of familiarity with Pollution Prevention (P2) practices and maintain employee training records as required.
  • Communicate effectively with project management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders regarding environmental compliance and project progress.

Physical activities : Communicates with clients, employees, and regulatory personnel in person, over the phone, or via email. Exposure to hazards and conditions typical of construction sites.

Licenses / Certifications Required : N / A

Preferred Licenses / Certifications : Minimum 3 years of construction experience on projects of similar size and scope, with environmental procedures similar to this project. Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMSs) such as ISO 14001. Familiarity with environmental regulations applicable to construction operations. Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification. CPR / First Aid Certification.
