The Milwaukee VA Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) for Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service in their Community Living Center (CLC).
Valor Point (9A) is located within the Community Living Center is a unit consisting of 2 programs, Transitional Care and Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.
Duties
Help
Transitional Care (29 beds) is a short stay (less than 90 day) interdisciplinary program which serves medically and psychiatrically stable veterans and provides nursing and medical care prior to their return to a community setting. This program provides wound care / healing IV therapy / TPN, various orthopedic diagnoses, respiratory care; veteran and family education and veterans waiting title 19 approval and guardianship.
The Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (11 beds) is an acute care inpatient rehabilitation program providing comprehensive care by an interdisciplinary team to maximize function and abilities. This program provides an opportunity for appropriate veterans to improve deficits in mobility, self-care or safety concerns with attainable goals. Length of stay is determined by goals of care.
Nursing care provided is veteran focused and uses a team model. The patient population is dynamic and complex providing opportunities for nursing staff to experience a vast amount of diagnosis and hone assessment skills.

Physical Requirements : This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity.
