Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, where you'll provide care for a diverse range of patients, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation and tumor resections.Spine surgeries (cervical, thoracic, lumbar).Stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, alongside medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), you'll gain exposure to cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques and care.

Assess patients' needs, develop care plans, and build therapeutic relationships.Monitor significant changes in patient conditions and adjust care plans as necessary.Implement safety strategies and assess patient readiness to learn.Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate care outcomes and participate in shared governance initiatives.Promote patient safety and report any safety events promptly.Engage in continuous professional development and participate in required training.Provide age-appropriate care based on each patient’s unique needs.Qualifications :
Current Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Completion of an accredited nursing program.Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Skills & Abilities :
Demonstrated ability to provide holistic patient care.Strong critical thinking and flexibility in clinical situations.Proficient with electronic medical records and communication tools.Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with the care team.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.May involve exposure to hazardous materials, requiring protective equipment.Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine motor skills.This job description outlines the general nature and level of work expected.
