Job title : Entry Level Lumber Yard Associate
Pay : Starting at $18 - $22 an hour, depending on experience
Schedule : Monday-Saturday 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm, with a rotating day off in the week.
Location : Springfield, Oregon
Lumber Yard Associates are responsible for providing legendary service by safely and efficiently loading customer vehicles with building materials. The Lumber Yard Associate is also responsible for keeping the yards clean and stocking inventory.
This position reports to the General Manager and works closely with external and internal customers.
Qualifications
- OSHA Certified Forklift License preferred
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Knowledge of receiving / inventory control principles, practices and protocols
- Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials
- Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices
- Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment
- General knowledge and use of power tools
Duties and Responsibilities
Safely, accurately and efficiently load customer vehicles with orders of building materialsEnsure that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policyReceive delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locationsInspects stock and returned items to ensure salable qualityPuts stock away in the correct location and nicelyProvides required paperwork for change ordersCompletes inventory adjustmentsParticipates in inventory preparation and post proceduresReads and follows instructions on picking ticketsOpens and closes warehouse and yard when necessaryComplete Blue-Volt training as necessarySeeks to learn products and applications and attends product knowledge meetingsKnows product locations in the yard and warehouseAbility to read a measuring tapeUnderstands product terminology and gradingKeeps forklift cleanMaintain yard cleanliness during course of workAdhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Employees Handbook Wears high visibility, safety gear, and proper uniformPerforms daily lift inspectionsAlways looks behind / honks horn when backing / rounding blind cornersSafely operates equipmentPromptly report all accidents / incidents and damaged productsPerform daily safety audits of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipmentKeep aisles and exits clearAttaches red safety flag to over-length productParticipates on safety committee if neededUnderstands weight, height, and length limits to inform customer of being able to safely handle or transport materialConsistently follows safety protocolsQuickly greets and assists all customersReviews and completes hold harmless form with customersShares product knowledge with customersPulls orders and stages for will callsThis position works outside in a retail lumberyard location in all weather conditions.
