  • Location : Abilene, Texas 79601 (Texas nursing jobs)\n
  • Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)\n
  • Unit : Pre-Op / PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)\n
  • Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 01 / 05 / 2026 – End : 04 / 06 / 2026)\n
  • Shift : Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07 : 00 – 19 : 00), varied start times (may start as early as 5AM)\n
  • Hours per Week : 36\n
  • Estimated Weekly Salary : $1680-$1800\n
  • Patient Age Groups : Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics\n

    • \n\nPACU RN Qualifications\n \n

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU or Pre-Op Registered Nurse experience\n
  • Active RN license (Texas or compact state) required at time of submission\n
  • Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (current and valid)\n
  • Pre-Op nursing experience required\n
  • Travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)\n
  • Experience with electronic charting systems (Altera preferred)\n
  • Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I / II experience preferred\n
  • Ability to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance\n
  • Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions considered)\n

    • \n\nPACU Nurse Responsibilities\n \n

  • Deliver high-quality patient care in Pre-Op and PACU settings\n
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments, patient education, and medication administration\n
  • Monitor and manage patients post-anesthesia, ensuring patient safety and comfort\n
  • Interpret and communicate lab values; manage IVs, ports, and central lines\n
  • Administer emergency medications and respond to rapid response situations\n
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy)\n
  • Accurately document care in the electronic health record (EHR)\n
  • Provide discharge instructions and conduct follow-up phone calls as needed\n
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control and isolation protocols\n
