Job Objective :
Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and the pharmacy technician supervisor performs routine and some intermediate level tasks to assist the Pharmacists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists Pharmacist in proper labeling of medications, Processes medications orders and those returned to Pharmacy
- Assists Pharmacist in preparing labels.
- Assists Pharmacist in preparing required paperwork for controlled substances
- Assures adequate inventory is maintained at all times.
- Assures and credit and billing tasks are completed in a timely and thorough manner
- Maintains professional work habits by organizing workload, setting priorities, completing assignments in a timely manner, utilizing resources appropriately, complying with department program standards and adapts well to change
- Assists in the operation of all Information and Automated Dispensing Systems : a. Pyxis MedStations, Pyxis Connect, McKesson Pharmacy IS and other technology
- Performs basic pharmacy procedures for the routine operation of an acute care pharmacy. Such as checking in merchandise, filling physicians orders for pharmacy verification, floor stock, preparing IV's and TPN's
- Clarifies physician orders by obtaining additional information for processing orders, investigates when necessary, and answers questions regarding pharmacy procedures
- Recognizes departures from the normal and discusses with pharmacist
- Understands and can implement medication recall process
- Coordinate with other team members and assists manager with implementation of new applications.
- Conduct system demonstrations for visiting groups.
- Assists in the creation and publication of training reference materials.
