No Pay Information $69,000 Pay Schedule Annually FLSA Designation Exempt Position Summary The Research Scientist is essential for completing internal and external client service contracts, and specialized technical duties for the Biomechanics Research Building. The Research Scientist supervises all research team laboratory technicians, student workers, high schools interns, and assists with the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students using research laboratories in the Biomechanics Research Building. They also oversees the calibration, maintenance, and installation of all shared equipment in the Biomechanics Research Building amongst seven research laboratories. They will submit purchase request related to laboratory operation to the MOVAN Director and / or Building Coordinator / Department Chair. The Research Scientist will generate and maintain Institutional Review Board applications and perform audits to ensure adherence to the protocol. The Research Scientist will assure all equipment is properly calibrated and maintained, propose new equipment / servces, as well as restock, order, and organize collection supplies. Job Duties Responsibility Area : Lab Supervision and Training Duties : Provides direct supervision of, 2 lab laboratory technicians, 3-4 student workers, and assists with the technical supervision of approximately 60 graduate students using Biomechanics Research Building resources.Provides training for faculty, staff, and students using Biomechanics Research Building resources. This includes approximately 40-50 individuals per year.

Percentage Of Time 30 Essential Function : Responsibility Area : Develop Standards Duties : Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and on-line documentation for laboratory equipment as a training tool and to promote scientific best practices. Percentage Of Time 5 Essential Function : Responsibility Area : Collection Duties : Lead collection and processing of highly specialized equipment for biomechanical (3D kinematics, kinetics, EMG, metabolic, etc.) data, analysis, and storage to include maintaining backup data. Data is used for surgical planning in clinical pediatric human subjects. Creation of custom software and reports for collaborators and service contract clients Percentage Of Time 30 Essential Function : Responsibility Area : Lab and Equipment Maintenance Duties : Leads equipment maintenance including troubleshooting of all laboratory devices and software valued at over $4 million. Submits requests for materials needed to perform maintenance and / or data collection. Percentage Of Time 25 Essential Function : Responsibility Area : External Projects Duties : Preparing scientific manuscripts and local / federal grant applications under the direction of Director, Movement Analysis Core.Estimating external contract / client project costs and resources.
