Wieland is hiring a Grinding Operator . The Grinding Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating slitter machines while ensuring compliance with safety and customer specifications. This role requires mechanical inclination and experience in the metals industry, focusing on maintaining equipment and monitoring machine parameters to produce high-quality products. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range : $25.40 - $26.40 / hr plus $0.55 shift differential

Work Schedule : 3rd shift 11 PM - 7 AM

Pay Schedule : Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Grinding Operator Responsibilities :

Comply with all safety rules and regulations.

• Follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and JSP (Job Safety Practice) documents.
• Read, understand, and follow all Work Instructions specific to the equipment.
• Detect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Set-up and operate Grinding Machines. Continually monitor material and machine parameters to assure compliance with specifications.
• Determine proper roll combinations to achieve desired shape and surface finish.
• Use electronic contact and non-contact gauges, indicators, and controls to operate machine and check lab to ensure product meets appropriate specifications.
• Move material to and from machine using the grinding cart.
• Direct the work rolls in the AS 400 to show roll IF number and the amount of time it took to grind the roll for RA, crown, and shape of the roll.
• Perform light maintenance on machines, such as checking machine coolant and changing as needed, cleaning machine each shift, and adding hydraulic oil as needed.
• Change filters as needed.
• Perform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.
