A growing CPA firm in North Central Phoenix is looking to add a Tax Manager to their team. The Tax Manager will be responsible for :
Preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Computing taxes owed and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements
Developing, implementing, modifying, and documenting record keeping and accounting systems
Demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and an understanding of business issues relating to complex transactions
Conducting research on complex accounting and tax issues, and managing the research activities of assigned staff
Identifying meaningful trends or patterns in interactions, situations, and technical data that suggest potential problems or solutions
Evaluating the costs, benefits, and risks of alternative solutions to clients' challenges and needs
Managing the engagement planning process, including budgeting, risk assessment, and strategic development
Participating in tax planning
Closely managing individual and team productivity, including realization, utilization, and engagement efficiencies
Staying current on business, accounting, and tax developments, and articulating potential implications to clients and / or their businesses
Preparing complex client correspondence, including recommendations, technical issues, proposals, etc.
Building expertise in one or more specialized industries, while also effectively performing as a generalist
Comprehending the operations, processes, and other aspects of clients' businesses and industries, including significant accounting and tax issues
Looking for value-add billing opportunities
Engaging in the billing and collection process
Recognizing value-added billing opportunities
Working overtime throughout the year, particularly preceding and during months with tax deadlines
Being knowledgeable of the firm's wide range of services available to clients, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and helping grow the firm's practice and industry teams
Developing and maintaining strong business relationships with clients, financial officers, referral partners, business leaders, and other professionals
Participating in networking, marketing, and business development events
Joining and being involved with professional and community organizations
Generating new business opportunities while effectively managing personal workload
Attending training on technical issues and tax law updates
Directing and instructing all levels of staff accountants and taking lead in client relationship management
Supervising staff and managing workflows
Leading staff professional training, performing staff reviews, and evaluating staff work product
Encouraging effective use of the firm's tax and business software and technology
Fostering an environment of mentoring and teamwork
Serving as a sounding board for staff to answer questions and address concerns
Assisting with the recruitment of new and experienced accounting staff
Qualifications :
Bachelor's in accounting or other relevant field required
Master's in taxation preferred; Master's in accounting beneficial
3+ years public accounting experience with a concentration in small business and individual taxation
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
