Mechanical Engineering Intern

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering student to join our Advanced Products Center (APC) Texas Materials and Process team in McKinney, Texas. As an Engineering intern the responsibilities will include all aspects of the Special Tooling Mechanical design process from concept to model / drawing completion for Special Tools and Special Test Fixtures of low to moderate complexity required to support product builds for each assigned task working under the general supervision of a team lead. Some assembly of your designs may be required. You will work closely with product engineers, quality engineers, test engineers, industrial engineers, and operations leaders on product manufacturing.

This position is an onsite role, where you will be working primarily in McKinney, Texas during Summer 2026.

What You Will Do

  • Learn Creo modeling and drawing creation.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production tooling.
  • Participate in multi-discipline team to design, procure and build custom tooling that support assembly and test of Raytheon products.
  • Engage with program engineers, Program Management, and operations leadership to define tooling requirements.
  • Communicate with Vendors to obtain quotes and have technical discussions for tool fabrication.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their junior year by the start of Summer 2026.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling.
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including a basic knowledge, and understanding of GD&T.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO.

  • Relocation Eligibility
  • The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
