About the Role :

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PT Assistant) plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, working under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to help patients recover from injuries and improve their physical capabilities. This position involves implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and providing support during therapy sessions. The PT Assistant will also educate patients on exercises and techniques to enhance their recovery and prevent future injuries. By fostering a positive and encouraging environment, the PT Assistant contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and outcomes. Ultimately, this role is vital in helping individuals regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in a clinical or rehabilitation setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certifications in specialized therapy techniques.
  • Bilingual
  • Responsibilities :

  • Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Conduct therapeutic exercises and modalities as directed by the supervising physical therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the physical therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized treatment area, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and in good working condition.
  • Skills :

    The required skills for this role include strong communication abilities, which are essential for effectively interacting with patients and their families. Attention to detail is crucial when monitoring patient progress and documenting treatment outcomes. Physical stamina and strength are necessary for assisting patients during therapy sessions and handling equipment.
