Summary :

Under close supervision responsible for assisting providers in delivering quality health care to customer- owners and their families.

Level I employees perform work under close supervision, may only perform simple or routine aspects or the position, and generally require a good deal of instruction and / or training.

Responsibilities :

Creates, develops, and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions. Applies customer service guidelines appropriate for the situation.

Assists providers in the delivery of quality health care. Performs basic medical procedures before and after examination including taking of vital signs, rooming the patient, performing phlebotomy, specimen collection, dressing changes, medication administration, scheduling patient appointments and procedures, documentation of care in the healthcare record which may include documentation assistance as a scribe, proposing orders, performing specialty specific care with appropriate training; assisting in ensuring smooth patient flow; and assisting provider and case manager in managing patients.

Maintains a clean work environment, reporting defective or missing equipment and safety hazards. Assists in disaster planning and activities.

Provides feedback on the, and assists in the improvement of, quality of care being delivered to ensure that Joint Commission and other regulatory standards are met as they apply to the department.

Ensures availability of drug stock supply, other supplies, and equipment by completing daily inventories of various medical items and submitting supply requests for replacement. Perform equipment inventory and maintenance. Completes daily quality control testing and documentation of blood glucose meters where applicable.

Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other employees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A certification from an accredited certified medical assistant program.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from any of the following : National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from National Healthcare Association (NHA) or American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
