Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Prevention and Strategic Partnerships Director, the Prevention Educator develops and implements educational and outreach presentations, programs, and activities focusing on healthy relationships, intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, bullying, etc. The Prevention Educator travels and works primarily in Orange County, collaborating with school districts, walk-in centers, local universities, faith-based organizations, and community groups. The Prevention Educator maintains and establishes new community partnerships to drive education and outreach for violence prevention education and awareness. The Prevention Educator recruits participants to join groups and to assist in the agency’s domestic violence outreach and prevention education efforts throughout target communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Responsibilities

• Prevention Education Secure, develop, and facilitate presentations and groups on intimate partner violence and teen dating violence for youth and adult audiences. Conduct educational workshops for first responders, including law enforcement, medical professionals, and salon professionals. Support the execution of campaigns, including but not limited to, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Facilitate the 40-Hour DV Advocate Training and the Personal Empowerment Program (PEP). Update and maintain databases by recording activities, participants, outcomes, and perform quality assurance checks and compile reports.
• Digital Prevention & Communications Plan and ensure media postings align with agency branding guidelines to increase followers and engagement. Create and gather content to regularly update social media across platforms, aiming to grow our online footprint. Create visual and / or graphic materials, draft captions and messaging, edit and review content, and obtain final approval for all e-communication pieces. Responsible for gathering stories, drafting content, finalizing layout, obtaining final approvals, and ensuring regular content execution.

Qualifications
