Job Description

The employee functions as a first-line administrative supervisor of a limited work area (second-level clinical direction)

comprised of Licensed Practical Nurses. This position will act in a supervisory role in place of the Unit Coordinator when

unavailable (afternoons / nights / weekends). This position will ensure appropriate staffing for the facility, units are

communicating amongst each other, and charting is reviewed regularly to ensure completion during scheduled shift. The

position will be responsible for assisting with any new admissions, transfers and discharges that may occur during the

scheduled shift as well as completing any nursing duties that require the experience and skill level of a Registered Nurse.

This position will be highly visible and is expected to round regularly to monitor for appropriate nursing techniques and

compliance with policies and standards of care. Auditing of multiple different care areas and focuses will be required. This

position will need to communicate and assist with member, family and staff concerns in the absence of the Unit Coordinator

or Director of Nursing.

Other supervisory duties included in this position include processing time sheets, approving leave time, counseling and

discipline, and performance evaluations for subordinates.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Completion of a degree in nursing or nursing school educational program accepted for registered nurse licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

Experience

One year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.

Possession of a master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11; or, possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for six months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.

Vacation and Sick Leave : Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave : Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
