Purchasing Agent - Beaumont, TX

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, consumables, equipment rentals, fuel, sanitation services, and other project-related items. This role requires strong vendor relationships, cost-control awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment. A background in construction supplies, experience with equipment rentals, and trucking logistics is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Procure consumables, fuel, equipment rentals, sanitation services, and other project-specific needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Source and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.

Establish and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships to ensure reliability and quality.

Coordinate delivery schedules to job sites, ensuring materials and services meet project timelines.

Review and process purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgetary guidelines.

Monitor inventory levels and proactively manage stock for frequently used items.

Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and accounting to ensure accurate billing and cost allocation.

Track and report on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving initiatives.

Resolve discrepancies with orders, invoices, and deliveries promptly.

Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes

Experience and Skills :

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

0-5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management (construction industry preferred).

Familiarity with construction materials, equipment rentals, and trucking logistics is highly desirable.

Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
