Must-Have : 1 : 3 patient ratio experience, trach and ventilator management
Description :
One set of requested time off for 7 consecutive days or less will be considered.
Experience with 1 : 3 patient ratios is required, particularly with tracheostomy and ventilator management.
Non-titrated cardiac drip management is required, including medications such as Amiodarone, Milrinone, Lasix, Cardizem (titrated), Dopamine, and Dobutamine.
Insulin management with a 3 : 1 ratio is preferred, but not required.
Certifications in NIH, ACLS, and BLS (AHA only) are required.
Experience with Meditech Expanse is preferred.
First-time travelers with PCU experience managing 1 : 3 to 4 patient ratios will be considered.
Minimum weekend requirement is two weekends per month, which may increase based on unit needs.
Floating within areas of competency, including med / surg, telemetry, and observation, is required.
Knowledge of Omnicell medication system is necessary.
SBAR communication is expected.
Daily responsibilities include care of patients diagnosed with various conditions, including sepsis, stroke, DKA, respiratory failure, COPD, pneumonia, STEMI, alcohol withdrawal, chronic heart failure, and acute on chronic renal failure.
Skills and experience required include telemetry monitoring, management and interpretation of dysrhythmias, feeding tube care, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, renal failure care, central line management, peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starting, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration.
Also required are management of ventilated patients, isolation precautions, wound care, and use of non-invasive airway management devices.
Candidates should be comfortable with various medical equipment, including ventilators, high-flow nasal cannulas, and Bipap systems.
Isolation precautions and wound care experience are essential.
All candidates must comply with vaccine requirements, including COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, with exemptions considered for medical or religious reasons.
