Located on 174 Acres in DeKalb County, Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta operates 300 licensed, accredited inpatient beds in three major program areas : Adult Mental Health, Forensic Services, and Developmental Disabilities. In addition, GRH / Atlanta also offers inpatient and outpatient Dental Services.

Job Description

Job Title : Internal Medicine Physician - Board Eligible or Board Certified – Admissions - Full Time - GRHA

Job Summary :

Under general supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatments. Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of patients.

• May supervise staff
• Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary
• Advises patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
• Coordinates work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers
• Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff
• Examines patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
• Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
• Provides emergency medical care
