SHELTER WORKER (ANIMAL SERVICES)

GENERAL PURPOSE : Under general supervision, performs all aspects of humane animal care duties to ensure animal safety and well-being.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Cleans, disinfects and maintains shelter areas as assigned.
• Feeds, waters and bathes animals.
• Provides humane sheltering services in compliance with State minimum standards and shelter policies.
• Safely and humanely handles animals of unknown health and temperament.
• Contributes to the programs and services that support the shelter's live outcome goal.
• Ensures the safety of animals and people in the shelter.
• Accurately maintains all required records in the shelter's database.
• Assists in unloading trucks, stocking shelter areas and storing materials.
• Maintains facility and grounds in a clean, neat and organized manner.
• Varying hours Sunday through Saturday 7 : 00 am to 6 : 00 pm including holidays.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.
• Other duties as assigned.
