Job Title : Optics Fabrication Technician (Temp-to-Hire, 2nd Shift)
Location : Boulder, CO
Schedule : Tuesday - Saturday, 2pm - 10 : 30pm
Rate : $18–$22 / hour DOE + $4 / hour shift differential
Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Optics Fabrication Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will fabricate precision optical components to meet strict customer specifications using a variety of processes, including beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspection. This position offers a great opportunity to grow within the organization, with potential leadership responsibilities and cross-training in quality and process improvement.
This role reports directly to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Optical Fabrication : Execute precision fabrication of optical components from initial print to finished product, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
Quality & Inspection : Perform detailed inspections, measurements, and quality checks throughout the fabrication process; prior experience or familiarity with Quality processes is highly valued.
Process Management : Monitor and maintain optimal fabrication conditions, including Baume and pH levels.
Advanced Blocking & Polishing : Perform precise blocking and polish single test plates, maintaining tight tolerances and wedge control for high-quality finishes.
Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to improve fabrication steps, efficiency, and quality; provide suggestions for process enhancements.
Training & Mentorship : Support and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on techniques and best practices; potential to lead specific projects or initiatives.
Additional Duties : Perform other tasks as assigned by management to support team goals and departmental success.
Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience : Previous experience in optics or fabrication is a plus. Candidates with some background in Quality or inspection processes are highly desired.
Work Ethic : Strong work history, reliability, and a commitment to detail and precision.
Team Skills : Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, guide junior staff, and coordinate with engineers and senior technicians.
