Position Summary

Salary : Based on education and experience commensurate with Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule D1 ($42,108-$94,363). This is a nine-month position. Summer employment may be available (an additional $13,001-$29,184) dependent upon enrollment.

This is a full-time teaching position with responsibility for planning, preparation, and presentation of quality instruction and for otherwise contributing to the fulfillment of the college's mission. This position reports to the Program Coordinator of Medical Laboratory Technology Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for instruction in the appropriate teaching environment(s) and for evaluating student learning.

2. Responsible for class and laboratory preparation.

3. Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and recommend new or revised curriculum.

4. Provide academic advising to students.

5. Perform department / program responsibilities.

6. Perform institutional responsibilities which contribute to the fulfillment of the college's mission.

7. Follow institutional policies and procedures and fulfill the terms of one's employment.

8. Adhere to accrediting agency requirements.

9. Maintain professional credentials; participate and document ongoing professional development.

10. Maintain professional competency in laboratory technology.

11.Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Clinical Coordinator Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in the implementation and management of the medical laboratory technology program.
  • Assist in coordination of clinical education as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Assist in maintenance of regular communication with the clinical instructors.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator to conduct and document visits, complete written correspondence, and telephone communications with clinical instructors to evaluate effectiveness and compliance with program policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical instructors to ensure adequate instruction and appropriate supervision of students in clinical settings.
  • Establish and maintain standard methods for evaluation of student clinical performance.

Qualifications

Education : Associate degree or equivalent required

Experience : Minimum of three years of full-time experience as a clinical or medical laboratory practitioner required

Experience in course development and in student instruction, supervision, evaluation, guidance, and academic counseling preferred

Certificatio n : The MLT Clinical Coordinator shall be a medical laboratory scientist / medical technologist who is certified by ASCP BOC. Required

    Sick Leave

    All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement.     Retirement

    The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.     This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
