If you’re a seasoned steel estimator with extensive experience in steel structures, who thrives on complex projects, tight coordination, and crafting accurate bids that win work, this is the role where your expertise truly makes an impact.
You would be working for our client, an AISC Certified Steel Fabricator and Advanced Steel Erector based in Austin, TX , that takes pride in delivering high-quality structural steel projects and non-building steel structures, with a strong focus on safety, craftsmanship, and excellence.
You’ll work directly with design documents, general contractors, and vendors to develop competitive proposals that set projects up for success. This position offers autonomy, support, and room to grow, alongside a team that values accuracy, clear communication, and craftsmanship.
What You’ll Do
- Develop precise material and labor takeoffs for structural steel projects using drawings and specifications.
- Build clear, accurate cost models including materials, shop / field labor, equipment, and buyout items.
- Partner with general contractors to clarify requirements, timelines, and bid questions.
- Request, evaluate, and compare vendor and supplier pricing.
- Review drawings for accuracy, scope gaps, and cost-impacting changes.
- Prepare written scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, and bid qualifications.
- Manage estimating schedules, bid deadlines, and follow-ups with GC partners on award status.
- Support smooth project handoff to internal PMs after award.
What You Bring
