A growing, privately backed manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on IT Director to bring structure, accountability, and strategic direction to its technology operations. This highly visible role requires a hands-on leader who can balance tactical IT support with long-term planning, while ensuring compliance in a regulated environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing technology, a thorough understanding of industry regulations, and the confidence to work closely with executive leadership, board members, and external clients.

Worksite Location :   On-site position in Eden Prairie, MN.

Pay Range : $130-160K + 10-20% bonus potential.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Define IT priorities that align with organizational goals and transformation initiatives.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and best practices appropriate for a small, compliance-driven business.
  • Oversee IT budgets, vendor relationships, and licensing to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Deliver executive reporting on IT performance, risk posture, and key technology initiatives.
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., CMMC, NIST, ITAR).
  • Manage digital and physical Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Oversee audit logs, baseline configurations, and risk assessments while promoting employee cybersecurity training.
  • Ensure software approval processes, access controls, and security policies are enforced consistently.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting for servers, PCs, Microsoft Office, and business applications.
  • Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, and user account management.
  • Manage system backups, updates, 2FA tokens, and diagnostic logs to ensure uptime and security.
  • Oversee hardware / software provisioning, system upgrades, and network stability.
  • Support database development and reporting (Microsoft Access, SQL).
  • Maintain network and firewall operations, with exposure to Fortigate and managed switches.
  • Provide infrastructure support for manufacturing floor systems and electronics as needed.

    Required Skills & Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience / certifications.
  • Proven IT leadership experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries.
  • Hands-on technical expertise with :
  • Windows 10 / 11, Windows Server, Active Directory
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST, or ITAR.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to support end users in both office and production settings. U.S. Citizenship & the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance are required

    Desired Skills :

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access / VB development and SQL reporting
  • Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Firewall and network switch management (Fortigate or similar)
  • Experience with Linux systems
