We are seeking full-time and part-time emergency veterinarians to work at our location in San Diego. Proficiency in a specialty is a plus!

Job Summary

The knowledgeable emergency veterinarian will work professionally as a team with staff to provide exceptional care for emergency or surgical conditions which clients have agreed upon financially in advance.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency examinations
• Diagnose illnesses and recommend treatment
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Perform surgeries such as splenectomy, enterotomy, gastrotomy,  ophthalmic, laceration repair, bite wound repair, and mass removal
• Administer life-saving measures such as CPR, oxygen, medications, and intubation
• Perform surgical procedures and postop pain management
• Prescribe medication
• Communicate compassionately to advise and update pet owners on their pet's well-being
• Update and thoroughly complete patient records

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
• Current veterinary license in California
• At least one year of work experience as an emergency veterinarian
• Thorough knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical emergency best practices, proficiency in minor surgeries
• Experience with equipment and anesthesia procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts in simple terms
• Problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills
• Availability to work 12 hour shifts during the day or night, three shifts per week, reliable transportation
• Patience and ability to develop caring, trusting, lasting relationships with clients and staff
• A desire to aid in developing the client base, staff training, and practice profitability
