Position Description

JOB TITLE : QUALITY ASSURANCE NURSE-RN

SUPERVISED BY : Director of Nursing Care

SUPERVISES : NIA

POSITION PURPOSE :

This position has responsibility for review and completion of clinical monitors, data management, data analysis and preparation of performance improvement reports. In addition, serves on hospital committees and teams, representing the quality improvement program as requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

Current nursing license in good standing in the State of Oklahoma Degreed in nursing from an accredited nursing program.

1-2 years experience in nursing center preferred CPR Certification

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Ability to seek assistance as needed.

Ability to adapt to changes necessitated by patient / staff situations. Ability to initiate schedule and oversee caseload. Excellent organizational skills; Ability to handle several tasks at one time; Ability to write legibly;

Ability to interact in a positive manner and communicate well with guests, families, co-workers, supervisor, and other employees.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

5. Utilize appropriate measurement tools, collect internal and external data, Rating

Comments aggregate and trend data, analyze and identify implications of findings. Develop and recommend action plans to implement solutions. Schedule and conduct financial audits as requested by insurance companies.

6. I Coordinate accurate and timely data collection for quality indicators that

include but are not limited to Joint Commission core measures, publicly recorded indicators, and other quality improvement activities. Analyze and interpret data, identify trends, compile reports, and prepare summaries of reports for use in quality improvement efforts throughout the hospital.

Serve as a resource for all departments related to quality indicators.

7. I Conduct medical staff quality screens and coordinate medical staff peer review, including the preparation of physician profiles used in re­ appointment of medical staff. Analyze, interpret data, identify trends and prepare monthly reports for the medical staff department.

8. I Review, research and evaluate quality and performance improvement benchmarks utilized, collaborating with others in the appropriate selection of benchmark data.

9. I Assist management in intensive assessment of Adverse Critical Events (ACE) in the review and investigation of claims or potential claims.

10. I Perform other related duties as assigned that correspond to the overall

function of this position.

11. I Maintains the confidentiality of all guests, family members, co-workers and visitors

12. I Assist quality assurance committee with the resolution of any grievance or concern

13. I Comply with policies and procedures relating to infection control for self, guests, visitors, and staff. Ensure the guest care environment and equipment is clean and in proper working condition.

Observe proper body mechanics and safety precautions in all job duties. Communicate information about incidents involving self, guests, staff and / or visitors to appropriate parties, using facility incident reporting system.

Maintain work area and equipment in a pristine manner.

Demonstrate the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follow procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Indoor climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids which may carry infection to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional travel with exposure to outdoors elements.
