Job Title : Design Engineer

Location : San Francisco

POSITION OVERVIEW :

We’re looking for someone with a solid technical foundation to support the design and documentation of building controls systems. In this role, you’ll take ownership of system layouts, equipment selection, and written control sequences for a variety of small to mid-sized efforts. You’ll also be responsible for assembling closeout documentation once projects wrap. Collaboration with the project team and a strong ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment are key to success.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING :

Help shape system layouts and choose the right components for building automation solutions.

Produce submittals, drawings, and written sequences for systems that manage HVAC and other facility functions.

Interpret project documents to ensure our scope aligns with the larger project goals.

Update drawings to reflect changes that happen during installation.

Compile operation manuals and final documentation at project completion.

Work with teammates to spot opportunities for efficiency improvements or client add-ons.

Manage your time and assigned tasks across multiple projects—delivering on both schedule and budget.

Act as a bridge between the field and office teams, flagging issues or solutions as they arise.

Stay on top of documentation and time reporting, and ensure your assigned work follows company and project safety practices.

Support internal development efforts by participating in group learning, onboarding activities, and safety training.

WHAT YOU BRING :

A technical associate’s degree or 2–5 years of relevant experience in building systems or automation (a four-year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus).

A strong mechanical mindset and an understanding of how building controls work.

Familiarity with key tools and programs such as AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office.

Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams with confidence.

Comfortable juggling multiple priorities while maintaining quality and organization.

Experience with or exposure to systems from leading vendors in the controls space is helpful.

Must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and committed to doing the job right the first time.

A valid California driver’s license is required.

Solid communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential.
