Under the supervision of the Maternal Child Health (MCH) - Children's Health and Perinatal Services (CHPS) Nurse Manager, provides culturally competent nursing care for MCH-CHPS services including postpartum newborn home visits, congenital syphilis, elevated lead, and newborn screenings. Provides nursing care per agency policies / procedures, standing orders, patient specific medical orders. Promotes quality customer service and maintains strict confidentiality. Assists with emergency response efforts as indicated by SCDPH.
Population Focused Care for Maternal Child Health (MCH) Children's Health and Perinatal Services (CHPS)
Utilizes the Nursing Process in MCH-CHPS, through assessment of the health of clients. Documents care / services when provided per Agency Policies / Procedures. Implements care plans to include appropriate interventions, education, and counseling based on identified needs; and initiating / follow up on referrals when indicated. Identifies patient needs through MCH-CHPS services.
Performs MCH-CHPS services, including Postpartum Newborn Home Visits and Specialty Tracking such as Congenital Syphilis, Elevated Blood Lead Levels Case Management, and Newborn Screening Case Management.
Adheres to all programmatic and practice policies, including those in the Nursing Professional Practice Manual, Health Services Policy Manual, Health Records Policy Manual, and the Standing Orders Manual.
Promotes and supports the development of programs, policies, and services that provide interventions that improve the health status of maternal and child populations.

Assists with emergency preparedness events, maintains supportive nursing practice competencies to include, but not limited to, client emergency response including first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and be willing and available to assist during time of public health emergency and outbreak response efforts.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Licensure as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements : Possession of a valid driver's license. May be required to use personal vehicle. Practices in the office and clinic settings. Performs postpartum newborn home visits in the region assigned. CPR certification within (30) days and then as required. Able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods. Able to travel when needed within the region and state for meetings and training. May have overnight travel for training. Participates in disaster preparedness as outlined in the DPH emergency plan. May be required to work evenings (after 5pm) and / or Saturday clinics. Ability to travel within the region.

Preferred Qualifications
