We are looking for an absolute go-getter to join our rapidly growing company as the Director of Engineering.

This is a key leadership role on our Engineering team and will go to the person who demonstrates exceptional performance and continuous improvement.

You will be directly responsible for leading our Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver world class solutions that run our business today and scale for the future.  Technical knowledge in engineering and architecture, hands-on experience, leadership, communication and partnering skills are the absolute minimum requirements to be successful in this role.

Role and Responsibilities (read :

  • All of this all the time) Strategic Planning :   Develop and execute a comprehensive Data strategy aligned with the organization's overall business objectives, identifying emerging technologies to drive innovation while minimizing cost.   Team Leadership :   Hire, manage and mentor managers, assigning responsibilities, evaluating performance, ensuring accountability and fostering collaboration.

Focus on continuous improvement through training and growth opportunities within the team based on merit.  Data Architecture and Delivery :

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Data infrastructure including data warehouse platform(s), data lake(s), transactional databases, pipelines, ETL, API, insights, ML and AI implementations..  Project Management : Lead the execution of Data projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.  Stakeholder Communication : Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior management proactively.

    • Performance Monitoring :

  • Analyze Data operations to identify areas for improvement, track key performance indicators (KPIs).  Partnership : Build and maintain relationships with leaders across the organization to facilitate the highest level of performance and delivery.

    • Minimum Qualifications (read :

  • You need more than this) Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in engineering with a minimum of 6 years in a role with direct reports Experience creating and managing budgets of ~$5M Exceptional technical knowledge in Engineering and Architecture Demonstrable experience in development for cloud (AWS experience preferred) Strong hands-on experience with software engineering for SaaS products in the cloud Proficiency in modeling team structure and processes for projects and go-forward planning Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Data Engineering or Computer Science Proven leadership and team management abilities Strategic thinking and ability to align Data with business goals Project management skills Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements Soft skills (read : Should be obvious in the first 5 minutes of meeting you) Critical thinking skills Ability to support your position without rigidity Can handle differing opinions with professionalism Impeccable communication skills Champion of collaboration Excellent presentation skills Unquestioned integrity True understanding of sense of urgency Natural understanding of what it takes to be a go-getter Additional information Travel is quarterly for in-person planning meetings Occasional off-cycle travel for conferences and conventions Personal growth is championed here through training opportunities What does the interview process look like?

    • It looks basically like the following :

  • 15 Min - Recruiter screening 90 Min - Interview #1 is a culture fit interview with some sanity checks of your skillset. 90 Min - Interview #2 is a technical interview to probe your knowledge.
  • This role is not a hands-on technical role day-to-day but you need to be technically sound to lead technical people and especially to lead strategy. 90 Min - Interview #3 is a collaboration interview where you will meet with other leaders to see what working with you is like. 30 Min - Interview #4 is a small follow up for any clarifications for you and for us.
  • On the whole, our interviews fly by and are more like conversations and celebrations of your biggest achievements but you will absolutely be challenged and evaluated.
  • It won’t feel like a court trial but it will be thorough.
  • This is your time to shine and be authentic and recognize we are looking for a fit for the company but the company must fit you also or this won’t work.
