Confidential Senior Environmental Laboratory Manager

Location : Virginia (onsite, within a three-lab network)

Compensation : $70,000 – $80,000 annually

Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM (occasional evenings / weekends)

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented leader to oversee operations within a well-established environmental laboratory network . This senior-level role blends hands-on laboratory expertise with strategic leadership , ensuring smooth operations, regulatory compliance, and top-tier quality standards. You’ll be working closely with a team of talented scientists, technicians, and quality professionals across three National labs.

In this role, you will be the operational backbone of the laboratory—balancing leadership, administration, and technical oversight to deliver accurate results on time, every time. Your responsibilities will include :

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a professional laboratory team, fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, scheduling, and production output.
  • Ensure rigorous QA / QC compliance, including document control, corrective actions, SOP reviews, and audit responses.
  • Manage equipment maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and consumable inventory.
  • Oversee service verification, invoice accuracy, and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate subcontracted work to meet turnaround times.
  • Serve as the point of contact for clients and participate in professional association events.
  • Facilitate effective communication across the laboratory network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of project management experience; commercial laboratory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory process management, quality controls, and LIMS systems.
  • Familiarity with AIHA and / or ELAP audit requirements preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
