Senior Actuarial Analyst / Associate Actuary – Captive Pricing Team
Zurich North America is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst or Associate Actuary for our Captive Pricing team, based in the North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or one of our nationwide offices.
The role supports actuarial and underwriting leaders, pricing of Captive accounts, and coordinates with Captives Underwriting teams, Line of Business Pricing, Reserving, and Data Analytics to ensure optimal outcomes for the Captives portfolio. The Senior Actuarial Analyst / Associate Actuary will handle individual account pricing and portfolio performance analysis. This position reports to the VP & Actuarial Director for Captives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses related to the pricing of individual captives.
- Develop and deliver actionable insights and associated actions for improvement for individual captives.
- Support Market Facing Underwriters on pricing decisions and develop effective premium / rating structure and strategies in support of business objectives.
- Perform analysis to understand profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as needed.
- Analyze and assess underwriting and reserving methodology and approaches.
- Analyze related to understanding profit drivers on portfolio segments and communicate insights as needed.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Actuarial Analyst
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate’s DegreeBachelor’s Degree AND Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years of experience in the Actuarial areaOR Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial areaBasic Qualifications for Associate Actuary
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics / Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics / Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND ACAS or equivalent international certificationPreferred Qualifications
Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experienceHistory of successful, solution-oriented collaboration across actuarial and multi-functional teamsAdvanced communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to interact effectively with individuals within and outside the organization at various levels and with technical and non-technical backgroundsHighly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including ExcelExperience with SQL, R, and VBAAbility to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviewsKnowledge of Actuarial Technique and StandardsCompensation and Benefits
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by various factors, including role, skill set, and level of experience. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 – $161,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior Actuarial Analyst is $74,300.00 – $121,700.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Associate Actuary is $98,300.00 – $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
