Key Responsibilities
The Founding Physics Teacher will be responsible for delivering the advanced and rigorous BASIS Physics curriculum to middle and / or high school students. Specific duties include :
Curriculum Delivery : Teach Physics courses which may include Foundations of Physics AP Physics or other specialized science courses utilizing an engaging content-rich and effective instructional approach.
Student Engagement : Foster a classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity scientific inquiry critical thinking and a deep appreciation for the natural sciences.
Assessment and Feedback : Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely constructive feedback to students and parents.
Laboratory Instruction : Design and oversee hands-on inquiry-based laboratory experiments and activities that reinforce theoretical concepts and teach proper lab safety and techniques.
Founding Team Collaboration : Play a pivotal role in establishing the schools culture contributing to school-wide initiatives and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.
Professional Development : Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings continually seeking to improve instructional practices.
Student Support : Serve as an advisor or mentor guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major or significant coursework in Physics or a related scientific field (e.g. Materials Science Engineering). A Masters degree is highly desirable.
Prior teaching experience in Physics at the middle and / or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors-level courses is a significant asset.
A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear compelling and engaging manner.
Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized highly focused and positive learning environment.
Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic founding team.
