Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centered care using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Essential Functions
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies and the nursing process.
- Conduct detailed patient assessments, ensuring accurate documentation of findings, and report any changes in condition to the appropriate care teams.
- Provide age-appropriate care and education using knowledge of human growth and development.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects while adhering to standards of practice.
- Assist physicians during procedures within the bounds of your competency and skill level.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Respond to medical emergencies and take part in life-saving interventions, such as CPR and code team activities, when necessary.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring they are heard and respected throughout their care journey.
- Provide necessary education to patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care, ensuring comprehension and adherence to all instructions.
- Implement and follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of healthcare-associated infections.
- Monitor and operate medical equipment critical to patient care and safety.
- Safeguard patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Engage in compliance audits and chart reviews to ensure adherence to standards of practice and regulatory mandates.
- Demonstrate responsible decision-making in planning, delegating, and delivering care based on patient requirements and organizational policies.
- Thoroughly document patient care and education in the medical record promptly.
- Commit to professional development to uphold clinical competency and stay current with nursing standards and regulations.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
- Cath Lab RN Duties :
Pre-Procedure :
Review medical history, assess overall health, and prepare patients for procedures.
Initiate and maintain IV lines for medication delivery.Administer medications as prescribed by the physician.Educate patients and families about the procedure, managing their expectations.Verify the completion of all necessary surgical consents.During the Procedure :Assist cardiologists during catheterization procedures.
Continuously monitor vital signs, hemodynamic data, and sedation levels.Ensure all equipment and supplies are functioning correctly.Manage complications and respond swiftly to emergencies.Post-Procedure :Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition following the procedure.
Administer post-procedure medications as necessary.Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and standards.Qualifications
0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or equivalent student clinical rotations in an acute care setting.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated understanding of the nursing process and clinical practices.Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments and effectively communicate findings.Proficient in medication administration and monitoring for side effects.Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail in patient documentation.In-depth knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and / or Compact State Licensure is required.BCLS - Basic Life Support certification is required.ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred.PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is preferred.NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation certification is preferred.Refer to unit-specific guidelines for additional requirements.Benefits
