We are seeking a detail-oriented Appointment Scheduler Specialist to join our team in a regional healthcare setting within the Southern United States. This role requires precision in scheduling patients with minimal errors and a strong understanding of procedural preparations. You will be responsible for coordinating appointments, pre-registering patients, and ensuring all necessary insurance and demographic information is accurately collected.
Key Responsibilities :
- Schedule patients with an error rate of 2% or less, effectively communicating preparation instructions to patients and physician offices.
- Pre-register patients by obtaining accurate demographic and insurance details, including co-pay and deductible information.
- Verify insurance and demographic data with physician offices to facilitate smooth pre-registration for testing and procedures.
- Coordinate with various hospital departments to optimize outpatient procedure scheduling and respond promptly to calls.
- Manage scheduling for special tests requiring anesthesia, radiology, or pre-admission services.
- Confirm medical necessity for Medicare patients and secure prior approvals to ensure timely payment.
- Utilize computer systems proficiently to access patient information, email, and other necessary platforms.
- Refer uninsured or underinsured patients to financial counselors promptly.
- Maintain a cost-conscious approach while efficiently managing time and resources.
- Perform special projects as assigned to support organizational goals.
- Collect medication lists for IV contrast exams, coordinate with pharmacies for approvals, and communicate any medication discontinuations to patients and doctors.
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in medical office administration preferred.
Experience : Previous experience in medical scheduling or registration is highly desirable.
Requirements : Strong communication skills, attention to detail, proficiency with computer systems, and the ability to coordinate with multiple departments effectively.
