The Billing Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of medical records requests, correspondence, audit inquiries, resolution of return mail issues, and other support tasks. Working closely with the Revenue Cycle Team, the Billing Clerk plays a key role in optimizing billing operations. This position requires strong attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities :
- Sort, distribute, and process incoming mail, ensuring all documents are handled appropriately for further action.
- Process and fulfill medical records requests from patients, insurance companies, and third parties in a timely and organized manner.
- Verify that all required authorization forms and consents are obtained before releasing patient records.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and privacy laws when handling sensitive patient information.
- Assist with audit requests from insurance companies, government agencies, and other stakeholders by providing timely and accurate documentation.
- Identify and resolve returned mail issues, update patient records as needed, and coordinate with patients to confirm correct contact details.
- Oversee the billing department's email inbox, ensuring timely responses, tracking follow-ups, and escalating issues as necessary.
- Process payments and assist with maintaining accurate patient account records.
- Provide general administrative assistance, including document management, filing, and other clerical tasks to support the billing team.
- Work both independently and collaboratively on projects and departmental tasks to enhance overall efficiency.
- Perform duties with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience :
1-2 years of experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple priorities.High level of accuracy and strong organizational skills.Effective troubleshooting and resolution of billing related issues.Excellent customer service skills with a proactive and professional approach.Education, Certifications and Licensures :
High School diploma or general education degree requiredSpecial Training :

This position is based in our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters and requires an onsite presence 5 days per week. However, future consideration for a hybrid work model may be possible based on performance, business needs, and leadership approval.
