About the Role

The Company is looking for a Head of Information Security to spearhead its comprehensive cybersecurity initiative. This key role is responsible for protecting the organization’s digital assets from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the institution.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with executive leadership, academic departments, research centers, and external partners to align security initiatives with the university's strategic mission. We seek an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 15 years of information security experience, including a minimum of 8 years in a leadership capacity. A strong background in managing teams and budgets is essential as well as expertise in the development and implementation of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management programs, and incident response strategies.

Ideal candidates should hold relevant certifications such as CGRC, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or equivalent. The position demands exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, with a proven capacity to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.

The Head of Information Security will be instrumental in enhancing the organization’s resilience against threats, managing incidents swiftly, and embedding secure practices within a diverse ecosystem. This is a critical role in an R1 environment, where safeguarding high-value research data and securing grant-funded projects is of utmost importance. The individual will report directly to the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO and play a vital role in the institution’s strategic plan to elevate its status as a leading public research university.
