The Opportunity
A Fortune 500 telecommunications company seeks a Network Permitting Specialist on a temporary basis for at least six months, possibly longer in Miami, Florida. For candidates located in Miami, FL, the schedule is hybrid : Mondays and Fridays are WFH days; Tuesdays through Thursdays are in office. If candidates are located in Broward County North or the West Coast of Florida, the position will be fully remote. The hourly rate is up to $40, plus benefits.
Primary Duties
The Network Permitting Specialist is responsible for preparing, submitting and managing a wide range of entitlement applications, permits, and agreements that enable the installation of communications infrastructure on the Company's assets including poles, fiber, and related equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of municipal permitting processes, zoning codes, and regular collaboration with local jurisdictions and internal teams. Additional duties include the following :
- Prepare and submit zoning, permitting, and entitlement applications in compliance with municipal requirements.
- Track and manage permit progress, responding to jurisdictional requests and facilitating timely approvals.
- Coordinate with design teams to produce and revise permit drawings, construction documents, and supporting materials.
- Lead entitlement-related discussions in customer and internal meetings; serve as subject matter expert on municipal codes and telecommunications regulations.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams to ensure compliance with permit conditions throughout all project phases—from submittal through construction.
- Maintain accurate records, system updates, and cost tracking for all zoning and permitting activities.
- Ensure proper billing, reconciliation, and collection of reimbursable permit-related expenses.
- Support project planning efforts by participating in District and Area-level pre-construction meetings.
- Oversee the permit closeout process, ensuring all required documentation is completed and submitted.
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal stakeholders, including planning departments, inspectors, city councils, and neighborhood groups.
- Represent The Company at public meetings and hearings to obtain necessary approvals.
- Support legal and internal teams by reviewing agreements and advising on permitting and access right
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Urban Planning, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Minimum 2 years of experience in municipal planning, zoning, land use, or telecommunications permitting.Experience working within a corporate or large organizational environment is preferred.Strong understanding of zoning and building codes, municipal processes, and permitting requirements.Ability to interpret construction plans, legal agreements, and technical documentation.Proficient in managing multiple projects with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to public and government entities.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide practical, timely solutions.Capable of developing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.Willingness to travel to local municipalities and project sites as requiredThe Partnership
