Loan Officer - Community Banking

A well-established, independently owned community bank with a long history of stability and service excellence is expanding its lending team. They are seeking a driven and experienced Loan Officer to support continued growth across consumer, mortgage, and commercial lending.

Key Responsibilities

Originate, underwrite, and close a mix of consumer, mortgage, and commercial loans.

Manage an assigned loan portfolio, including annual reviews, covenant compliance, and financial updates.

Develop and grow new business through proactive calling, cross-selling, and deepening existing relationships.

Prepare and present credit packages for committee approval, ensuring high credit quality.

Partner with internal teams to ensure smooth processing, closing, and ongoing customer communication.

Assist with compliance, quality control, reporting, and audit preparation.

Represent the bank through community engagement and leadership roles in civic organizations.

Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with lending best practices and regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; formal credit training preferred.

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in consumer, mortgage, and / or commercial lending.

Strong credit and underwriting skills, with the ability to present loan packages for approval.

Proven track record in business development and sales within a banking environment.

Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-management skills.

Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance practices.

NMLS registration preferred.

Must live in or be willing to relocate to the greater Elmwood / central Illinois area.
