Job Overview

The Medical Interpreter, Sr. is responsible for performing full level interpretation and translation work while providing training and mentoring to less experienced or junior interpreters in the related principles, methods and techniques related to interpretation and translation.

Shift : Mon-Thu 1p-6p and Friday 2p-6p.

Qualifications

• Education : High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience : Spoken and written fluency in Spanish, English or other foreign language with a minimum of a combination of three (3) years of translation / interpretation experience.
• Certification(s) : Certified as a Bridging the Gap (BTG) Medical Interpreter or equivalent

National certification preferred, CHI-Spanish or CMI-Spanish credential.

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

No direct patient care, but will provide interpretive services to patients and families of all ages.

SCOPE AND LEVEL

Guidelines : Guidelines are generally but not always clearly applicable, requiring the employee to exercise judgment in selecting the most pertinent guideline, interpret precedents, adapt standard practices to differing situations, and recommend alternative actions in situations without precedent.

Complexity : Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.

Decision Making : Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed.

Communications : Contacts with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

Supervision Received : Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range : $23.31 to $34.97
