Job Summary :
The Insurance Adjuster – Specialty Claims is responsible for the full lifecycle management of complex, high-exposure specialty claims. These claims primarily involve elder care facilities, medical negligence, and medical malpractice , requiring expert investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution. This role demands a high degree of technical proficiency, independent decision-making, and the ability to collaborate with professionals across multiple regions. Key Responsibilities :
- Fully manage the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of specialty claims representing the company’s largest damage exposures.
- Handle complex claims originating from multiple states; conduct field investigations and consultations as necessary.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to other Liability Adjusters across the organization.
- Interpret and execute the strategic direction of senior management to improve loss performance.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, state regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain and update detailed claim files, documentation, and reports.
- Engage in collaborative case strategy discussions with underwriting, product management, and legal teams.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision-making authority within established company parameters.
- Promote teamwork and a culture of open, constructive communication.
Required Experience & Qualifications :
Minimum years of professional liability claims experience , with a focus on medical malpractice and elder care facility claims.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.Must possess or obtain appropriate state adjuster license(s) and maintain required continuing education credits.Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and claims management systems.Proven ability to analyze statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to liability claims.Demonstrated excellence in negotiation, communication, and decision-making under pressure.Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities.Experienced in developing and implementing claims strategies that balance risk, cost, and customer satisfaction.Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with commercial and professional lines insurance products.Prior experience mentoring or reviewing work of other adjusters.Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across teams and external stakeholders.Soft Skills :
