Casual Ophthalmic Technician

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a Casual Ophthalmic Tech Must be available at least two Saturdays per month from 7a-1p and able to travel to all locations : Minnetonka, Crosstown, Bloomington, Blaine and Woodbury.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with Doctors of Optometry but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set. Starting pay is $20.00-23.00 / hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome and acknowledge all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
• Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular / medical history, family medical / ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
• Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to : history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, assisting with office procedures
• Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit
• Open and close exam rooms, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor; stock all necessary supplies
