We are currently on the hunt for a seasoned Sr. Insurance Accountant to join our rapidly growing client in P&C Insurance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of our insurance department. You will be central to our financial record-keeping and contribute significantly to our financial strategy and planning.

Job Details

As a Sr. Insurance Accountant, you will :

1. Participate in Monthly / Quarterly Stat Reporting and Daily Insurance Accounting

2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

3. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

4. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.

5. Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

6. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

7. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

8. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

9. Work closely with the accounting team to streamline accounting functions and operations.

10. Provide insights to the management team on financial trends and forecasts.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have :

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be considered an asset.

2. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

3. Proven experience (5+ years) as a senior accountant, preferably in the insurance industry.

4. In-depth understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance accounting.

5. Proficiency in Yellow Book and Statutory reporting.

6. Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)

7. Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.

8. Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software.

9. Well-organized with ability to prioritize tasks.

10. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

11. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
