This role is eligible to participate in Zeniths hybrid work schedule which provides the flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership.

This is an Internal Posting open only to current Nurse / Sr Nurse Consultants in the Fresno Branch

To direct supervise train and manage Zenith staff in medical management operations within designated branches in accordance with organizational expectations ensuring that medical management branch operations are effective appropriate timely and compliant with internal and external expectations and ensuring compliance with regulatory and / or statutory jurisdictional requirements. All with the goal of returning the injured person to employability and normal activities or achieving Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI)

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following :

  • Participates in the development and maintenance of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Plans for and manages daily operations of branch nurses and administrative staff including timely resolution of the nursing teams daily work assignments providing clinical expertise and direction to the medical management and / or claims team as needed and ensuring adequate staffing coverage as needed.
  • As requested analyzes reports and claims for trends and opportunities to improve operations or creates reports to support business operations.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory licensure and jurisdictional requirements for all reporting staff.
  • As requested review contracts policies procedures and other materials to ensure appropriateness and relevance to Zenith operations.
  • Participate in auditing of operations programs claims as requested.
  • Actively participates in monthly (or more frequently as needed) management meetings.
  • Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for nurses.
  • Conducts and facilitates regular staff meetings with the nurses to assist with communication within Medical Management and with the branch claims team as needed.
  • Actively participates in branch meetings and events.
  • Initiates and completes all reporting nurses mid year and annual performance evaluations.
  • Assures that staff adheres to all Zenith policies and procedures.
  • Completes all quality assessment reviews as required on all staff.
  • Completes all organizational assessments as required.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives such as BCP exercises IT testing as needed.
  • Volunteers for committees projects and other assignments as needed.
  • Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Work productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis.
  • Respond positively to direction and feedback on performance.
  • Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.
  • Perform other duties / projects as assigned.

Training Responsibilities.

  • Assists in the preparation and / or instruction of training classes on topics such as nursing / clinical education effective case management and medical management programs and processes.
  • Educates nursing staff in case management utilization review triage and return to work strategies as needed.
  • Provides training and mentoring to staff whose performance is not meeting expectations.
  • Conducts regular training with staff on all new or updated medical management processes and procedures.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities and promotes education of their staff.
  • Conducts orientation and training for all new and existing staff as indicated for both organizational changes as well as new departmental initiatives programs or processes.
  • Professional Development.

  • Maintains clear and active RN license in state(s) as required for role.
  • Professional certification is required and pursues continuing education to maintain RN active status as well as meet certification requirements.
  • Continually updates knowledge of Workers Compensation statutes and changes through self-development program including researching reading and attending classes or seminars.
  • Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience Qualifications

  • 4 years Maintain current unrestricted registered nurse (R.N.) license in the state where the position is based and other assigned states as required by law. required
  • 2 years prior supervisory and / or management experience preferred
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Degree from an accredited nursing school required with Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License in good standing.
  • Pursues continuing education as it pertains to maintaining RN licensure and certification.
  • Professional certification required in one of the following : CCM OR COHN OR CRRN OR CDMS.
  • Proven ability to plan and perform involved or technical work presenting new or regularly changing problems work from broad instruction deal with complex factors not easily evaluated required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective vendor and business partner relationships at all levels of the organization influence decisions and collaborate effectively across the organization required.
  • Outstanding oral written and formal presentation skills including ability to communicate complex ideas with all levels of the organization required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing fast paced environment; detailed oriented with strong organization skills required.
  • Experience working effectively across departmental lines in a complex multi-site organization required.
  • Must possess strong leadership skill in the areas of motivation coaching personal development and change management.
  • Travel may be required for training and departmental meetings.
  • Travel may also be required between branches to provide supervisory oversight to nurses that sit in other branches (frequency determined by manager but may be weekly to support operation).
  • The expected salary range for this position is $114115.03 to $142643.79 . Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience geographic location and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
