Position Summary

Working under direct supervision, coordinate the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure workplace safety and health. Develop and assist in leading safety communications that follows regulatory practices / rules, recognizes and reports hazards, initiates and promotes a World Class safety culture.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare safety and hazard reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
• Maintain safety statistics and submit reports of performance as requested; prepare and issue reports as required by local / federal agencies.
• Coordinate and participate in emergency response to spills of chemicals and other hazardous waste.
• Assist in advising employees on the requirements for the effective use of safety plans, procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure proper maintenance and inspection of facility safety equipment, such as, PPE, fire suppression, respiratory, HAZMAT, etc.
• Maintain the injury and incident records, reports, investigations, and statistical data. Examples : entering data into software programs, trending and reporting statistical data for Management and HSSE Reviews.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventative measures.
• Report and review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
• Inspect and audit facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation and management system compliance.
• Assist with worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
• Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
• Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
