Medical Assistant
Under direct supervision and within established scope of practice, assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures, technical, and supportive functions in a medical office or clinic setting.
Essential responsibilities include upholding Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, performing routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care providers, assisting assigned physicians and other health care professionals, performing routine clerical functions, preparing and administering medications, assisting medical personnel with procedures and diagnostic exams, applying principles of aseptic technique and infection control, establishing and maintaining systems for patient test results and follow-up, providing basic information and assistance to patients, documenting patient information and procedures, and maintaining courteous and cooperative relations with members, staff, and co-workers.
Additional requirements include being a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant or having completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Preferred qualifications include having at least one year of experience in medical assisting within the last five years and possessing computer and typing skills.
