Position Description :
The Retention Coach’s work focuses on post-training career retention and advancement for participants served in Wesley’s Financial Opportunity Center. This position provides direct coaching to FOC clients who have obtained entry level employment to assist them with the development of a career plan to advance to a sustaining $16 an hour or more wage. The Retention Coach is responsible for assisting clients in developing a plan of action to help them reach their career goals and improve financial stability. The Retention Coach, in coordination with the program’s director, will also work directly with employers to develop partnerships with high-quality employers offering advancement opportunities towards $16 an hour or beyond wages. Moreover, the Retention Coach will work closely with respective coaches to address barriers to employment retention as well as opportunities to capitalize financially on promotions and advancements. The Retention Coach may work with clients still enrolled in classes either at Wesley or vocational training providers in particular training to upskill clients such as Licensed Vocational Nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong organizational and project management skills including planning and scheduling; Experience managing toward clear outcomes and communicating outcomes both internally and externally; Seeks out unique opportunity to support clients; Form strategic partnerships to support clients and the Financial Opportunity Center work; Knowledge of the healthcare industry in Houston; Familiarity with adult education philosophy and implementation; Ability to write and speak clearly and informatively; Strong computer skills including typing and Microsoft Office; Customer service oriented and able to effectively manage difficult or emotional client situations; Ability to work cooperatively and supports the team’s effort to succeed; Ability to interpret and communicate contractual mandates and guidelines, as well as learn, with a strong attention to detail.
Education & Experience :
Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field preferred and / or meets experience criteria; a minimum of (5) years’ work experience in similar organization coordinating program services and activities, and providing direct case management. Experience managing grant funded projects preferred.
Work / Physical Requirements : This position requires the employee to work constructively and cooperatively in a team environment. Employee(s) in this position will work primarily in an office setting where they will interact with clients to help resolve issues; while also occasionally having to stand and walk to complete job duties. Must be able to lift and carry up to (25) pounds unassisted. Employee in this position may be required to work weekends and / or evenings in support of program services and special events.
