Supervision provided from OU Medical School teaching facility member, who is present for you. Standard clinic call is by phone only and never requires "going into office / hospital" , is very light, and is never during clinic hours. Frequency of call is every 6 to 7 months and earns additional compensation. Additional opportunity for voluntary call assistance with Variety Care, that earns exceptional earnings. Transitioning from Advanced MD (EHR) to EPIC (EHR) over the next 6 months. Knowledge in both EHRs is a plus. Assists primary health care providers in recognizing and treating mental health disorders and psychosocial problems. Assesses the clinical status of patients referred by primary care providers through brief consultative contacts. Works with primary care team to treat and manage patients with chronic emotional and / or health problems efficiently and effectively. Assists in the detection of at-risk patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration. Assists in preventing relapse or morbidity in conditions that tend to recur over time. Utilizes appropriate laboratory tests using prescribed methods and techniques; determines normal and abnormal test results; and develops a health care plan based upon analyzed data. Defines / documents differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included. Completes all required documentation in electronic medical record according to deadlines / guidelines set forth by payers and Chief Behavioral Health Officer. Secures health histories from patients and notates findings and treatment course in patient electronic health chart including follow-up notes. Under direct and indirect supervision of a physician, diagnoses, plans and implements a comprehensive care plan based upon the patient's mental health needs. Attends and participates in meetings and quality improvement activities as required. Serves as a member of committees as requested. Participates in evaluation of peers and support staff. Assists in planning and providing in-service training as needed. Follows HIPAA guidelines and VARIETY CARE policy and procedures as it relates to privacy. Supports Variety Care's accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety Care patients that is safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. Provides leadership and works with all staff to achieve the goals of the "Triple Aim" of healthcare reform-to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs. Embodies the strength of personal character. Places value on being an open and honest communicator who displays high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment. Must be a leader in the department and community. Result-oriented problem solver who is responsible and accountable. Performs other duties as assigned. Completed a PA accredited educational program. Recognition as a Physician Assistant by the Oklahoma Medical Board; certification by the appropriate national Certified Practitioner organization. Be eligible to obtain a license immediately to practice in Oklahoma. A minimum of 3 years of prior work experience a plus, but other experience and new graduates may be considered. A desire to serve patients and be self-motivated. You must have a good bedside manner and the ability to make decisions in emergencies. Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Ability to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers, consulting psychiatrist and mental health specialists, as well as with administrative and support staff. Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent and equitable manner Ability to effectively represent company's interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among coworkers, public, private and professional groups. Understand and have empathy for limited resource an populations. Ability to work with grace under pressure. Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties. Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner. Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter. Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator. Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect. Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not required. Able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Clinic Hours :
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (in clinic) : 8 : 00 A.M. to 6 : 00 P.M.
Thursday (work remotely from home) : 8 : 00 A.M. to 6 : 00 P.M.
Off on Fridays, that means you get 3-day weekends.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities :
Physician Assistant cares for patients with both medical and behavioral health problems. Provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to patients of VARIETY CARE, following the standards of the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and at the direction of the Chief Behavioral Health Officer and / or Supervising Physician.
