The QC Lab Specialist I is responsible for testing the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of materials to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties :
- Adhere to all Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations and procedures.
- Conduct laboratory work safely, using proper PPE and following site safety practices, lab equipment guidelines, and S principles.
- Perform work in strict accordance with QC Standard Laboratory Procedures (SLPs) and recommend improvements as needed.
- Inspect and test raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products using defined procedures and methods.
- Execute lab testing, generate test data, and prepare documentation and reports.
- Communicate basic observations on data and experimental outcomes.
- Support projects assigned by Engineers or Supervisors and assist with maintaining project timelines.
- Apply basic problem-solving skills to remove project bottlenecks and meet deadlines.
- Assume ownership of specific equipment and ensure its safe, proper operation.
- Report lab results and methods following company standards and communicate findings to internal / external customers.
- Record data in Excel, lab notebooks, and databases such as SAP.
- Maintain lab equipment, perform verifications, and troubleshoot instrumentation failures.
- Participate in measuring system analysis testing, customer / regulatory audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply basic mathematical and statistical techniques relevant to adhesive product testing.
- Train other technicians on equipment operation and / or test procedures as needed.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to safety with a proven track record in safety improvement initiatives.Solid interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team on multiple tasks.High school diploma or GED required; prior experience in a chemical laboratory preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel for tables and charts); experience with SAP or other databases preferred.Familiarity with analytical equipment, wet chemistry techniques, and / or mechanical testing apparatus.Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to drive projects to successful completion.Effective communication skills with a focus on problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork.Ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment.Flexibility to work assigned shifts. Training may occur on a different shift than posted and last – months. Shifts may include st, nd, or rd shift as well as weekends (see posting for details).Physical Requirements
Ability to work with and around hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment.Frequent sitting, computer use, and keyboard typing for extended periods.Continuous standing and frequent walking during shifts.Ability to lift / move up to lbs without assistance, up to lbs with assistance, and push / pull up to lbs using mechanical aids.Manual dexterity for tool use.Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, and color vision (corrective lenses acceptable).
