ABOUT THE ROLE
Inc. Business Media is looking for a producer / shooter / editor to join their growing video team. The job will roll out in two phases.
- Phase 1 : Taking ownership of our studio-based and quick-turn social video series.
- Phase 2 : Pitching new video concepts and executing on original video content, including research, prep, producing, shooting, and editing.
Craft is important to the role : the right person loves to light and create compelling images. The ideal candidate sees themselves as a visual storyteller who can use the power of a visual medium to connect with audiences. Equally important will be your journalism chops. The right person for this role will be able to report out and fact-check a story, pitch original ideas, and collaborate with our newsroom.
The ideal candidate will have experience at a business publication or has produced a significant amount of content on the topics of entrepreneurship, small business, or finance.
This is a 6-month contract position. Day rate : $375-$425 (five days a week). Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Own and execute studio-based video series that feature our reporters and editors, including podcasts.Produce, write, shoot, and edit high-quality original video content under tight deadlines.Create a wide range of short- and long-form video content for digital audiences.Work with journalistic integrity, making sure to research subjects and report accurately.Collaborate with the EP, Head of Post-Production, Podcast Team, and other team members to complete video pieces; collaborate with editorial team writers to tell their stories visually.Collaborate with custom and events teams and others across the organization to integrate video content seamlessly into broader initiatives.Pitch, report out, and execute on big swing video concepts.Lead and direct 2-3 person teams on video shoots.Qualifications
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
At least seven years of experience producing, shooting and editing original video content, ideally for a news organization or online publication.Experience owning and running video series.Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, most specifically Premiere Pro, with Photoshop and After Effects a big plus.Camera gear, audio, and lighting knowledge for a wide variety of shoots (C100, C200, C300).A team player who proactively steps in to help as needed and will jump into things last minute.A go getter who can create a wide range of short- and long-form video content for digital audiences.Great time management, meeting deadlines in a timely manner and sticking to budgets.Ability to plan and execute film shoots, including equipment planning, creating call sheets, shot listing, budgeting, and crewing up.Great problem-solving skills.Ability to be a self-starter and able to work both as part of a team and independently.Willingness to travel.WHEN YOU APPLY
