Job Title : Configuration Management Engineer

Job Description

This role involves extensive work with CAD PLM systems, integrating PLM systems with customers, and requires heavy travel, up to 50%, to international locations such as Australia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. You will conduct detailed assessments of CAD and PLM solutions used across the shipbuilding industry, analyzing interoperability, scalability, and alignment with lean manufacturing and systems lifecycle goals. You will collaborate directly with major shipbuilders and government stakeholders to recommend and support the deployment of modern, integrated digital toolchains. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of digital engineering, enterprise tool evaluation, and real-world production integration within a maritime or large-scale manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed assessments of CAD and PLM solutions across the shipbuilding industry.
  • Analyze interoperability, scalability, and alignment with lean manufacturing goals.
  • Collaborate with major shipbuilders and government stakeholders.
  • Support the deployment of modern, integrated digital toolchains.
  • Travel internationally up to 50% to countries including Australia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.
  • Work on integration efforts and development of PLM systems.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CAD PLM Integration, particularly with systems like Teamcenter and Windchill.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as Creo and NX.
  • Background in aerospace or defense industry.
  • 5–10+ years of experience with CAD / PLM systems in large-scale engineering or manufacturing programs.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and integrating systems for the Navy.
  • Prior collaboration with shipyards, integrators, or program offices on digital toolchain modernization.
  • Work Environment

    The work environment is an office setting where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams. You will work closely with a head project manager and engage in significant travel. The role requires being 100% onsite when not traveling to access the necessary systems. The hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract position based out of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00 / hr.
